Girls Volunteer Assistant Coach
Melissa Shaffer
Melissa, a teacher at Eaton Elementary
School, will serve as Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Spring 2010 season.
She played collegiate tennis at Indiana Wesleyan University and has coached
previously in the Mississinewa HS program.
She grew up in Traverse City, MI. She played tennis for 4 years for a small
private school named Traverse City Christian. (They didn't have a girls team so
she actually played on the boys team and had a blast beating up on the
boys!) She credits most of her tennis ability to her dad. He started coaching
her in 4th grade and was a coach for the high school team. They would even get
up before school would start and play together so they could squeeze in some
extra playing time. Melissa teaches special education at Eaton Elementary. Her
husband, David Shaffer, is a graduate student at Ball State University. He also
plays tennis. Melissa and David enjoy keeping a running total of wins and
losses with each other! |
